The Designer Demographic – Providing a Cafe to Your Important Target Audience

Cafe to Your Important Target Audience

The “target audience” is ideal for any business, no matter how large or small.

It’s exactly what the company aims for and the people it expects to sell to, and choosing a target audience for your cafe is the first step toward maximizing your cafe’s potential. Once you have your target audience, the next phase of the business plan can begin, focusing on your products, pricing, and other aspects of your cafe.

However, for the time being, we’ll focus on catering your cafe to your target audience.

Maybe you want to go out on the road and need to find a coffee trailer business for sale, or maybe your target market is closer to home, but either way, we’ll find ways to cater your business to your intended customers.

Color Schemes According to Target Audience

First up is the color scheme of your cafe. You are marketing it to make all the difference for what color it should be, what the interior should be like, what the uniforms (if any) should be like, and how the menus should be presented.

Different colors promote different feelings, such as red for intensity, anger, motivation, movement, action, blue for calm, serenity, relaxedness, etc. If your target audience is a group of highly-strung business people who come by for extremely strong coffees before stressful days in the office, maybe an angry red isn’t the best idea, and a calming, soothing blue might not be the motivation the gym-goers next door need when they step through your door.

Music

Music is an important part of a cafe’s overall feel because, without music, it would be dead silent in the background. People like to feel like they’re not being listened to by the staff, and music is a great way to break that silence and tension, but it has to be appropriate for your target audience. Do you want to draw in the local bridge club every day with old-fashioned music at low volumes in the background, or do you want to blast a popular local radio station to appeal to the younger customers?

Food

Your food will also influence your target audience’s decision, so make sure to have foods relevant and enticing to that group of people. Aside from coffee-based drinks, you can consider offering other types of beverages. Explore some smoothie recipes or milk tea options. Rich, creamy desserts and cakes might work well in some areas but might not in others, so it’s important to read up on the previously successful cafes in the area. What did they do right? Or, what did they do wrong? What can you improve on? These are useful questions when setting up menus for your intended customers.

Coffee for Target Audience

Coffee is key when it comes to a successful cafe.

It is a social lubricant in many countries, and bad coffee is universally recognized as sour, ashy, overly bitter, and generally bad-tasting. There is a distinct difference between good coffee and bad coffee, no matter whether you take it with milk or not. Find yourself a reputable coffee supplier and stick to them because changing your coffee is like changing your whole cafe around when it comes to dedicated coffee drinkers.

Business

The business aspect of a cafe is important as well when it comes to targeting an audience.

If you’re aiming to draw in parents who drop their kids off at a nearby school, hugely expensive and complex dishes won’t do the trick. Cater your prices to your customer’s perceived value of your food and drink, and limit their options, and your sales figures will go up.

Following these steps can lead to a more successful, more directly catered cafe than you had previously, which is any cafe owner’s goal.
