Congrats!

You’ve got a new job and now they want to whisk you away to five different countries over two months. It sounds nerve-wracking, but it doesn’t have to be if you’re prepared.

Still, freaking out? Don’t fret, we’ve got your back. Here are our favorite traveling for work tips.

1. Find the Most Cost-Effective Options

When you’re traveling on business, it’s important to find the most cost-effective tickets. Usually, you search for round-trip tickets as they’re the easiest to book but they’re not always the cheapest or most convenient.

One of our favorite tips for business travel is to buy two one-ways. This is especially useful during holiday travel times as they can mix and match carriers and routes.

2. Try Not To Check-In Any Luggage

One of the more useful business travel hacks is to pack light. A suitcase that is easy to pack is worth the investment as you need plenty of room for clothes, toiletries, and anything you need once you get back into business mode.

Also lugging a large suitcase through a foreign city, or losing it, is stressful, and a terrible way to begin a business trip.

Bring business-appropriate clothes and casual clothes for the flight and during your free time. It’s also important to pack dress shirts in plastic garment bags to prevent wrinkling in your suitcase.

3. Pack Items that Help You Sleep

One of the most important business travel tips is to pack items to help you doze off. Regardless of whether you have a long-haul flight or a domestic, prioritize a pillow, headphones, and an eye mask to you can sleep on the hotel or plane.

4. Invest In an Airport Lounge Membership

Another of our favorite work travel tips is to buy an airport lounge membership. Many airlines offer lounges with food, outlets, and a quiet space where you can take time to recharge in-between flights.

5. Stay Hydrated

We’re mostly made from water so it’s easy to become dehydrated while flying. To prevent this, drink plenty of water before, during, and after your flight.

If possible, once you hit the tarmac, make a beeline to a juice bar to get a juice packed with celery as it naturally restores electrolyte balance.

6. Check-In Ahead of Time

Mediterranean cruises are great for exploring parts of the world you’ve never seen before, but on a business trip, it’s important flying is streamlined as much as possible.

Check-in for your flight online and print out your boarding pass before you arrive at the airport. It also means you can skip the check-in and go straight through security.

7. Vent to Twitter

If anything goes wrong, tweet the airline for help. Most carriers have customer service reps on Twitter, so it’s a quick and easy way to reach out for help.
