English is one of the most important subjects which will help you to communicate in your daily life. The CBSE class 8 English paper comprises many prose and poems. There are also many exercises and activities based on questions in the textbook of CBSE class 8 English. The syllabus of English is vast and you have to follow a proper schedule to complete it. If you want to score well on your English paper, you have to work hard and smartly. You should develop a habit of reading your NCERT English textbooks thoroughly. You should have a good grip of the English language to improve your marks. You should also try to improve your writing and reading skills so that you do not face any obstacles while writing English. Here are some tips on how to prepare your study schedule:

Know the Syllabus:

You should know the syllabus of CBSE class 8 English. There are two books of NCERT English for CBSE class 8. It comprises poems and prose. Make yourself well-acquainted with the syllabus beforehand. 

Develop the Habit of Reading:

If you read your NCERT English textbooks regularly, you will gain in-depth knowledge and information from the book. You will also come across several different words while reading the chapters – this will help you to enhance your vocabulary. If you do not have a habit of reading, you should start reading as soon as possible. You can keep aside one hour for reading from your daily routine. This will also contribute a lot towards developing your writing skills.

Develop your Writing Skills:

If you start writing regularly, the quality of your writing will improve. It will also reduce the chance of grammatical errors and help you frame the sentences correctly. Practice the Exercises of the NCERT English Textbook:

Exercise and activity-based questions will help you to test the level of your understanding of the textbook. Practice and solve the exercises regularly. If your teacher has taught a chapter in the classroom, you should try to solve or practice the exercise and questions of the chapter. You can also take the help of reference books to help you answer the questions.

Prepare Notes:

Making notes will help you a lot before your English exam. You can also make short notes on the prose by summarizing them or preparing answers to important questions from them. There are lessons on poems like The Ant and the Cricket, Geography lesson, The Last Bargain and many more. You can prepare summaries of these poems on your own. If your teacher is teaching any lesson, try taking down notes and mark the important points, if any. If you prepare notes on your own, it will not only develop your writing habit but also help you become well-versed with all the chapters. You will not face any difficulty before your English exam because the notes are already prepared.

Group Study:

If you like studying in a group, you can gain a lot from it. This will improve your communication skills and you can also clarify any doubts or queries that you might have. You can make a group of three or four and study together. Each one of you can prepare some notes on a particular chapter and share them. You can also help each other with grammar. If your friend has made any grammatical mistake, you can tell him or her to correct the mistake. In case you have not understood a chapter, your friend can help you to make you understand it. 

Improve your Grammar:

To do well in your English exam, you should know English grammar properly. Study the rules of English grammar and practice them regularly. You should be well-acquainted with nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, and pronouns. You should know how to frame sentences by following the rules of English grammar. You will be able to improve your grammar if you practice writing English. Also, if you have any doubt regarding grammar, you can seek the help of your English teacher. You can also take the help of grammar books or other English reference books to enhance your grammar.

Watch Tutorials:

You can watch tutorials for a better understanding of the chapters. It will help you gain in-depth knowledge of the chapters. If you are finding it difficult to understand any line of a poem, you can take the help of the internet. There are also many online materials available on the internet. You can go through these materials and watch tutorials to score good marks in English.

Timetable:

A systematic study is necessary to score well. You should give equal importance to both units of English – subject-prose and poetry. Make a proper study schedule where you can cover both units. Practice grammar as well. Give equal attention to reading and writing as well.

Practice Sample Papers:

You should practice sample papers that are available in the textbook of NCERT English. There are also practice papers in both the textbooks which will help you to enrich your knowledge of English Literature.
