I have found myself many times in a position when simply don’t know what to do next. That was very frustrating for me before I effectively succeed in managing it.
Such situations are dangerous for any persons and especial entrepreneurs. They simply can brake down your whole world for a moment, and you can’t quickly come back to the reality. For example, if you don’t know what to do next you can easily:
- Start feeling self doubt in yourself. This is the worse possible situation in which you can find yourself. You can’t be an entrepreneur if you feel self doubt in yourself.
- Become scared person. Simply, you will afraid to act even you find a possible solution for the next action step from your side. Fear is one of the biggest enemies of entrepreneurs. You will start thinking about outcomes in a form of worst possible scenarios that on the other side will increase fear to start doing something.
- Start feeling uncertainty. Even uncertainty will always be around you, when you fond yourself in a situation when you don’t know what to do next it will be bigger.
How you can help yourself to get out of the hopeless situation in which you are when you don’t know what to do next?
Here are some possible solutions for you.
Open your plan and start doing something non-complex and when you finish that come back to the initial problem. In many cases, it is better to delay the decision for the next action instead of making bad decisions in a panic, or to find yourself in a hopeless situation feeling self doubt in yourself, fear and uncertainty.
Great strategy is to change your focus from the initial problem and start doing something not so much complex that you will complete quickly. In such a way, you will increase your self-confidence and your energy because of increased feeling of achievement.
When you will come back to your initial problem, it will be much easier for you to find the solution and right directions in form of next action steps.
Stop doing anything, take a break, clean your head, and come back again to continue. Another strategy that you can use when you don’t know what to do next is to take a break instead of working on something else. Fatigue can often be the source of your block and uncertainty about your next steps.
When you take a break and come back to your initial problem with a clean head you will quickly realize how much more productive you can be.
Focus yourself on the next possible actions. Many times when you work on solving different problems for your company you are thinking on many aspects about the possible solutions or next possible steps.
What will be the outcomes? Is it right or not? What if I make a mistake?
This questions will block your head with many things that probably aren’t so much important for your current position. Simply try to forget about the outcomes, focus your whole attention only on the next possible step and be aware that even you make a mistake you can fix it.
Talk with somebody and ask for help. Sometimes when you really don’t know what to do next the only solution can be to talk with someone who can help you about possible solution.
You don’t need negative persons around you in such a situation, you will need inspirational and positive persons that even they don’t know about your current problem have a potential to motivate you to take a next step.
Start doing something right now. And always you can do something right now despite possible outcomes. Simply make something and follow if you need to make a correction if something go wrong with your decision. You will always have possibility to fix the things around you.
What is more important is that you will not stop working on your current project and you will not find yourself in a hopeless situation feeling self doubt in yourself, fear and uncertainty
The most important thing when you find yourself in a situation when you simply don’t know what to do next is to start doing something. Start doing something will take you away from bad scenarios that I describe at the beginning of this post.
